What I don’t get is what all the “Free Obama” stickers and pins are about. I keep up with the news pretty well but I’ve heard nothing about Obama being captured, or imprisoned, and yet all over the internet I see “Free Obama” this, and “Free Obama” that. How can this story have fallen through the cracks? If you have any info, please send it my way. Thanks.
Speaking of Free Obama, I’m wondering when will he be free (for coffee)? I donated a substantial amount of money to the campaign (somewhere between $15 - $20) and since then, Barack has been sending me e-mail updates on his campaign - awesome!
I recently found out that his campaign headquarters are in Albuquerque NM, which is great news because my mom recently moved there! When I found this out I immediately started to reply to his daily e-mails.
“Dear Mr. Barack Obama, What a coincidence - my mom just moved to Albuquerque, maybe we can go out for dinner when I come into town. Now that I think about it, you’re probably pretty busy - maybe coffee will do? Let me know how free you are in October, that’s when I plan on visiting.
Sincerely, Whit Scott”
To be quite honest, I’m a little mad at Obama right now. The dude sends me almost an e-mail a day and I only send e-mail’s back once or twice a week. I gave him $15 - $20! I’d be more then happy to buy his coffee, although I heard he’s been breaking records when it comes to fun raising (by the way fun raising sounds amazing, I totally want to work on a campaign!).
My guess is this all comes down to the Free Obama stickers I keep seeing. I know he has an Internet connection wherever he is being kept, but he obviously can’t get out for some coffee with one of his biggest supporters. If you happen to see Obama anytime soon let him know that I’d still really like to go out, and that I’m not that mad at him - I understand that running for President is not easy (I was the President of the Anti-Social Club in high school).
Today Claire and I went out to buy a new pot and a new plant for our apartment. Every time we do this, the plants get about 2 feet taller, so we should have our own rainforest by the end of the year. But really, what this is about is posting photos to my blog from flickr. I’ve been trying to use the Wordpress app on my iPhone, but the app is pretty lame (it doesn’t allow you post photos at the size you want). Flickr can do the job but I can’t really get it to format the way I want. If I had it my way, the photo would be on the left and the type would be on the right, which is clearly more esthetically pleasing. But alas, I am pretty inept when it comes to creating things online. Someday I’ll understand all of this computer stuff….
I think the funniest thing about uploading these photos is how ridiculous the type looks to the left of the image - it’s about as hectic as my thoughts.
So I’ve spent the last couple of days working on a video that is going to play at the Film Makers Alliance vision fest award ceremonies tonight. Kevin Smith is being presented with an award, and Seesmic was asked to get the community to help make a video to present to him.
My coworker Rachael Joy gets all the credit for making this all happen, so I deffinitly thank her for the invite to both be in the video that will be presented, as well as bringing me along as “the one man camera crew”, to interview a bunch of film makers including Kevin Smith.
i’ve been pretty excited for tonight for a number of reasons. Number 1, meeting Kevin Smith could be a pretty cool experience. He’s obviously a well known writer and director, and while I may not be his #1 fan I can definitely appreciate all of his work, and his contributions to good indy films, not Hollywood crap. #2, it’s not easy being a one man, camera, lighting, and audio crew, so the pressure is on. Lastly, this video that we made was thrown together kind of last minute and will be screened in a theater full of film makers. We know it’s ridiculous, it’s supposed to be, I just hope that it’ll be well received.
In my series of "Totally Not Sustainable", (which if you have not seen I don't recommend getting to into because they are totally not sustainable, the "show" has no chance of lasting) I talk a bit about why boarding passes are not sustainable. You would think it's obvious, they're made out of paper, thus killing trees, etc.
But let's get serious people, you can recycle paper, and turn that recycled paper into a paper tree that you could then plant, let it grow for a few years, and cut it down for more paper later. The reason why Boarding passes are not sustainable is because their functionality is so limited. Until they make the buttons clickable on boarding passes, they will continue to be a waste.
Totally Not Sustainable: Boarding PassThe button Totally doesn’t work. I tried.
