So I woke up at 7:30 yesterday morning, I seem to have a cold coming on, but I’m battling it pretty well. Breakfast at my hotel rocks, I wish I got some today, but I had to run.
Anyway, yesterday morning I uploaded a few of our videos while eating breakfast then headed off to “The Congress Center” to begin the day of filming.
Loic gave a tour of the whole facility, stopping and giving interviews on the way. I’ll have that day video up in about an hour. We then went and watched a meeting about the world economy. How can something so fascinating be so boring, or is it, something so boring be so fascinating. Either way, I struggled to stay awake, which I would feel bad about except that the two guys next to me fell asleep. Here is an article by the NY Times about that meeting.
At this point I was burning up and couldn’t really manage to be on my feet any more. I found a seat, did some editing, and uploading, and managed to shove a little food into my mouth. After heading back to the hotel, which you do by walking 15min or catching a shuttle, I started uploading some video, and took a 30 minute nap. I then edited the CNN piece that aired last night, and dropped that off to them.
Here is the CNN office down stairs at the congress center, this is about a 3 minute walk to the outside platform they have built for the live show here in Davos.
We finished up the day with a dinner that was hosted by Loic, the topic being about social media, and who is your friend. I filmed most of the dinner but then ran off to the Blogger party. I know no one here. I’m used to Ultimate Frisbee parties where I know a ton of people. It’s tough to mingle when you’re nearly a generation younger then most of the people in the bar. None the less some of the folks there wanted to see our show that was going onto CNN so we showed that off, just before running off to do the live cast.
After the CNN cast (11:30ish), I ran back to the Blogger Party, hung out for maybe 30 min, then went up stairs to the hotel lobby where I edited until 2:45am. Then I went to my hotel room and edited until about 3:30. This morning I woke up at 8:45 in order to run off for an interview with Helen Fisher who led a forum about Love, Sex and Relationships. Here I am now, uploading, logging, and editing video in the Press Conference Room.
Davos… It’s tough but I love it.

Enjoying the videos Whit…especially when you almost fall. So interesting! More pictures of snow and mountains and quaint Swiss chalets….less of stuffy economic leaders! =) Did you get to see the PM of Pakistan speak? I heard he was there on NPR and thought of you.

Take care of yourself, Whit! We don’t want you getting sick and then not being able to produce hilarious blog posts and videos for us.
Seriously, it sounds as if this conference is an unparalleled professional opportunity for you. I hope you are making lots of great connections and getting to show off your skills (with nunchucks).

tons of nunchucks. Actually it’s crazy, in order to be a speaker here you have to have serious nunchuck skills. The best speak.
