I’m a Seesmic employee

November 19th, 2007 · 2 Comments

So i’ve decided I would write about Seesmic whenever I can, maybe that will bring a few more people in. Plus, we’re a completely transparent company which means I can write about all that is happening in the company. With that said, there are some things I may not write about, especielly if it’s going to give away anything Loic or Vinvin want to keep a surprise. But it should be known that not everything makes it into the video’s I post daily of Seesmic. Maybe this will become a place I can post a few more outtakes or, some footage that was just a bit to long for the show. Whatever it becomes, it will be here, and it will be through my eyes.        So maybe it’s appropriate to start by telling any reader that doesn’t know what Seesmic is, what it is, and anyone who doesn’t know who I am, who I am. Seesmic is the most confusing job to explain that i’ve ever had. First off let’s start with the name. Seesmic, no it’s not seismic, if it were it would be spelled that way. Sees, like the candy or “do you see me?” ,”yes I sees you, you’re right there!” Mic, ok it’s not Mic, it’s Mc. You say the Mic part like you would say Mc Donald’s or McMenamins. So there’s the name.      What we do… We’re an online video conversation tool/application. You can already do this on youtube, sorta, not really. Facebook has an application for it too, but it’s more directed at individuals not comunities and i’ve heard of a few others, but I checked them out and there interfaces were confusing and didn’t make me want to stay and check them out. Seesmic on the other hand is user friendly, and totally community building.     So not everyone can get on Seesmic right now, but I thought I would give you an idea of what the application looks like while running on a seperate interface. This is what the video looks like when taken from Seesmic. This is of me a while back.

Who am I? I’m Whit Scott. My job at Seesmic currently is video editor. I make daily updates of what’s going on in Seesmic, thus it’s only fitting for me to blog about it too. Here is our day 30 video which sums up the last 30 days of Seesmic.

Needless to say, I find the job fascinating and can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next. We should have a studio in a few weeks and from there I’m hoping to be able to learn some more studio opperations (I have some experience working in studio’s already.) I’m also hoping that I’ll be able to meet more people as the studio is likely to bring in a diverse crowd of online geeks (that’s a good thing). Speaking of meeting people, today we had a visitor from seesmic come in. goldiekatsu came in the office. So we officially have had DotBen, goldiekatsu, darius, Cathybrooks, Euan Spence and i’m sure i’m missing someone. Anyway, here is a video of goldiekatsu; Thanks for coming in, everyone is welcome any time, especially with beer.

If anyone has any questions about the company from my perspective, I would be happy to try and answer.
